Bill Slaughter, Executive Director, Montana Meth Project

With a law enforcement career that spans over 30 years, Bill Slaughter brings a thorough understanding of the devastation that Meth has had on Montana families. Mr. Slaughterıs passion for prevention stems from his first-hand experience of dealing directly with victims and offenders of Meth-related crimes.

After serving as sheriff of Gallatin County for 10 years, Slaughter served from 2001 to 2005 as director of the Department of Corrections under former Gov. Judy Martz and Gov. Brian Schweitzer. While in that post, Slaughter developed and implemented the nationıs first Meth treatment facility within the corrections system.

During his career, he has been honored to serve on a variety of boards, councils and task forces, most notably the Montana Homeland Security Task Force, Board of Crime Control and the Missouri River Drug Task Force.

Mr. Slaughter is a graduate of Montana State University with a bachelors of science in social justice and a graduate of the FBI national academy in Quantico, Virginia. Mr. Slaughter and his wife Renee live in Hall, Montana, and have a son who works in law enforcement.
